Brian Doelle Bio | Q&A | Photos

Q: If you were given only one species to pursue for the rest of your life what would it be?
A: That's a tough one... I'm going to have to go with big ones.

Q: What's your most memorable fishing experience?
A: It's kind of hard to forget the 12 hours I spent adrift in a small boat in a pretty nasty storm off the coast of Costa Rica. I hooked the biggest Jack I've ever seen and raised 2 Roosters on fly that morning.
Q: What style/technique are you currently working on?
A: Tying classic Atlantic Salmon and spey flies.

Q: What's your next new challenge/interest going to be?
A: This year I've commited to working on my casting to get tighter loops and higher line speed, so I can fish big water more effectivly. I'll also be working on my dry fly fishing, which is suffering from neglect.

Q: If you could change one thing in the fishing community, what would it be?
A: I'm concerned about the latest trends in Great Lakes Steelhead management. I'd like to see wild fisheries and maintaining the genetic integrity of Great Lakes strains emphasized, rather than some states obsession with stocking gross amounts of inbred fish into rivers that are completely unsuitable.
