In spite of growing up in the cornfields and woodlots of Southwestern Ohio, fly fishing and fly tying were taken up at 9 years of age; 35 some years of obsession continue to this day.
Shortly after the fly fishing bug bit, it became apparent that commercially available rods were not satisfactorily built. Rod building became another skill requisite to the pursuit and developed into a functional style and practice.

While all fish are considered game options, Steelhead, in particular, have become an obsession. To this end, travels throughout the Great Lakes Region are routine. A unique form of downstream indicator fishing I have developed is a favored approach for steelhead and other salmonoids.
