I have lived in Detroit and the surrounding area most of my life. I have been involved in the outdoors sports from an early age, first to fishing then to hunting as a teen. In the mid seventies I was introduced to Steelhead fishing. After a couple of years of running around the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan in search of chromers, I took up rod building. I began rod building because I could not find the right rod to

battle these fish. In the early nineties I joined the Michigan Fly Fishing Club and ended up doing most of my fishing via the fly rod. Shortly after joining the MFFC, I began tying my own flies, rather slowly at first. After a few years of tying and a couple of classes, I was asked to tie commercially which has turned into one of my favorite past times.
I currently reside in Allen Park, Michigan with Grayling as my permanent residence where I intend to retire in the not to distant future. A couple of years ago I started guiding on the upper Manistee, and Au Sable rivers with the intent on having something to do when I retire. I currently co-chair the Midwest Fly Fishing Expo, formerly known as the Southfield Show, and am a member of MFFC, TU, and MUCC.
