An easy to tie and popular pattern for fall salmon. This fly can be tied in an infinite combination of colors.
Step By Step:
Insert hook in vice and attach tying thread near the eye.
Tie in the flat tinsel just behind the eye. Tie the tinsel in with the gold side up.
Fold the flat tinsel over itself and wrap backwards to a spot above the hook point. Now reverse the direction and over-wrap the tinsel back to the original tie in point. Bind down and trim the surplus.
Strip one side of a large marabou plume and tie it in by it's tip, making sure you leave plenty of room for the rest of the collar and head.
Take 2-3 turns of the marabou directly in front of one another, bind down the end and trim the surplus.
Tie in 2 strands of Flashabou, doubled over, on top of the hook shank.
Strip one side of another large marabou plume and tie it in by it's tip. Pick a color that either complements or contrasts sharply with the first marabou plume.
Take another 2-3 turns of the marabou directly in front of one another, bind down the end and trim the surplus.
Wrap a small bright head and whip finish.
