I'm really excited to let let yopu all know that the interview out at Erie Outfitters yesterday went very well. Myself, Goby, Craig, and Keith & Stuart of KW Engineering (owners & Mfg's of the newly updated kingpins) all got together for a few hours for an open video interview and look over their latest models of kingpins for fly & float.
We'll have the video posted as soon as I can and a little sneak peak of the reels will be shown on flyandfloatfishing.com (should be this week)
All i can say is you guys are going to be VERY happy with the end result. These guys put their trust into some local guys to design a reel around our needs and it shows with i think may be the perfect reel. We;ll let you all decide soon.
We have a very special interactive poll coming out soon we'll let you all in on in a few days.
They brought 10 prototypes with them, all of which were different...so you pin heads out there..... you missed out on something amazing!
How cool is it to sit at BW3's sippin' a cold great lakes dortmunder gold talking about the future of the kingpin and steelhead alley???
Steve, it was great! I know he's chompin at the bit to talk about it and show some of the awesome pictures i got!

That is an absolutely great brew, Buzz introduced me to that recently and I am grateful! Sounds like it was a great time

| It was a great day for sure. Be sure to pay attention to Craig's review of the reel. He's had the chance to either own, fish or play with nearly every reel made in the last 20-30 years, so his opinion holds some weight. All I can say is these reels are ultra precise and bomb-proof. The ported models starts up better than any reel on the market today without question. Better yet, visit Erie Outfitters and check them out.

Here it is!!! Purple Arnold Kingpin. This one slipped out without the KW Engineering Arnold Kingpin logo, and has no serial number on the backplate. (PROTO?)The only thing that denotes it as a Kingpin is the crown emblem on the spool cap. They now come with a tool to remove the spool cap and access the bearings, and a spare knurled round brass nut that attaches the spool to the backplate. Handles are anodized aluminum to match the reel. Lots more portings as you can see too! The box is signed by both father and son: Keith and Stewart Ward. It is relatively light in hand and seems to have a nice startup!

| Dam it I just bought a new reel last summer. There is no way I'm not going to buy one of those.(probably not purple though, I better not let my old lady see that)

| On page 15 of the pin rundown thread you will see Ditchrat is correct. J W Youngs is not the only reel manufacturer to have a Bob James model.

I was waiting for that, as I knew what ratface was referring too.....I'm thinking that BJ was made by the same people that made the pretty purple mofo....But I could be wrong and probably am.....
