Just returned from Florida (Ft.Myers area) and and had an up & down experience. The up was the good fishing I experienced in some areas, and the bad was the complete destruction of all life forms by the red tide in other areas.

The areas I normally fish were completely void of all life and I did some experimenting with mixed results. The high point of the trip was a snook around 40" and seeing lots of sharks in Pine Island Sound while fishing from a sit on top kayak.

The pics tell the story best I'll post the rest in the gallery in the next few days.

Locals estimated the live a weight of this Goliath Grouper (Jewfish) at around 500lbs. It, along with hundreds of thousands of other fish fell victim to the red tide. Its worse now than when I left.

I never got a good close up of any of the sharks. But you get the idea. They were most visible at low tide as they cruised between deeper water potholes.
