OK guys,
counting down my last week until heading to the Kenai. I need the change of scenery and am looking forward to catching up with Keith (Chromebuck on the forum). With only a short time to tie flies, I'm hoping someone can tell me the best patterns to focus on for Upper Kenai rainbow and dolly's.
Eggs, flesh flies, alevin? What are they keyed on in late June? Or is it still to early in the salmon runs for fish to key in that heavily? Also, if anyone has a rec on rod weights and length for the upper sections (between the lakes) I'd really appreciate it. I've been unable to find any good details on prefered techniques for that fishery. I'm assuming it's nymphing.
Also, any Kasilof R. info would be appreciated.
Much thanks for the help, and I promise a report on my return.
Best,
Brian

| If the salmon havent started their thing, you might want to try swinging some large articulated sculpin patterns! Im sure egg imitations would work year-round. Have a sweet trip and bring back a few pics!

Hey Guys,
still have 2 more days to go, but I thought I'd drop a pic as a sample. Here's Keith and I with a small Kenai King.
