Holy fishsticks, another post to the canadian board! I had all but given up on you guys<VBG> Welcome to the board Drew.
It's been a while since I've been to your neck of the woods (guessing greater Toronto area by the rivers you mentioned) but am planning a return soon. I've fished most of the rivers you mentioned with the exception of the Ganny. It's high on my list, but I've yet to make it past the Credit and Bronte. Doesn't the Ganny close early in the fall? Also been putting off a float down the Big Head for a few seasons, but that's bound to work out eventually. Grand is one of the better rivers to fish, and I'll be on a lower stretch (paris area) in another week for the informal spey clave. Can't wait to get back and throw the long rod with some pals. Maybe I'll have to grab a buddy in Waterloo and head up to the trout stretch for an afternoon.
Outside of that, it's been one other trip to Superior's north shore this year and a day trip to the Soo this coming Sunday. Have to set aside more time to fish your side of the border. Lots of great opportunities.
Oh yeah, if you come across any elitist-types here, send an email to Eric Z. He's got a policy of taking em out back and beating em silly<G>
Best,
Brian |

morning boys every river on lake Ontario is open up to the cn bridge as wellas certian rivers are open all year with extended seasons such as the humber in downtown toronto open all the way up to steals ave 12-15 kms farther the credit has an open section called erindale park crazy to go now but when its colder less people more fish and to list goes on .last sunday in the humber i fished 6:00pm-3:00am landed two browns one bow and went 10-20 on the chinnies.the fish are big bur we don't have the numbers you have.the biggest brown i have landedwas well over 20-plus pounds and i have seen bigger. you should try to get to the ganny the next record bow will come from there.all most daily you will see people landing monster bows and they are not just hens heavy with eggs but 4-6 year males huge!!fished the same as down there light lines 3-6 pound test..anyways off to work hope to see more posts, make then and they will come |

Hey Drew,
Eric Z and I will be over Paris area next weekend. Can probably only manage a half day, so do you have a recommendation on other rivers to fish within about 1-1.5 hrs of Paris? I'm sure salmon or steel would suit Eric just fine. I wouldn't mind a shot at a decent brown myself.
Thanks!

well well i think we need water. I was in my usual holes this morning and all i see are bodies just happened to land 1 chinnie less then two pounds nice small fish.Anyway your question depending on the date you will be right in the middle of my brook trout haunts.but on the north side of lake erie there are a few good runs the grand being the biggest but in my meager opinion not the best for me.here are a few spots for you if you like one tell me and i will do my best to get you to the good pools.
big otter creek, medium size, sand and gravel bottom the run off is about 2-3 days pure wild no stocking
big creek medium size, sand and gravel lots of spring seepage run off 1-2 days but steady flow
venison creek small and bushy, sand and gravel abundant spring seepage run off less than 1 day
*young creeksmall and bushy, gravel and sand, lots of spring seepage run off less than 1 day
nith river large gravel rubble boulder and limestone bottom run off is 3-4 days
*whitemans creek medium gravel and sand abundant spring seepage run off 2-3 days this creek has a wonderful fly only section right close to where you will be. it is called apps mill nature center. Have you ever caught a 4-8 pound steelhead on a size 16 elk hair caddis?
this all comes from my fishing diary so... for more info email me i will share any and all info to fellow fly/drift fishermen/ladies.i just get a little worried posting on the net too much info
ps can you get my info from my file or do i have to post my email here?
smile the rains are a coming |
