i know it's not a repair you need, but at least he's famaliar with what you require and could possibly custom fab what you need. |

Well...Milner did not have any "saddles" for Hardy reels. He can professionally cut down existing, re-rib and give them a false petina, but thats it. Interestingly enough he has a custom made spey reel that is 4.25" in the highly polished chrome finish, which is discontinued due to tidal water fishing causing corrosion. It has a bi-level back plate and is one of only two ever made...Basically a modified Talisman with a drum arbor of 1 inch. Same pawl clicker...
Anyone else have any ideas? |

Traditional 3W by Danielsson going to the Dean now.... I tried to stay with traditional tackle, but for $220.00USD, brand new, I couldn't afford not to buy it! Thats half the price than with the Loop name and it's the same product....Perfects are nice, but I much prefer a palming edge...Especially on turbo charged tidal chrome....

There is a dude that does that sort of thing. His name is something like "Arluchetta". I remember once hearing about him on speyclave.com. He can make a new foot for you to use and keep the older one for collector's value. He can even switch perfects from right hand to left hand by rethreading them. I guess he also does refinishing jobs too, though I wouldn't do that if its very collectable.
If you don't get the answer you're looking for here, try posting the question on speyclave.com. I did a search for how I remembered the name being spelled, but only came up with one post by me.
The best solution, of course, is to sell the reel to me and buy yourself a ross or something equivalently generic. |

Gary,
Contacted the Hardy rep. for Canada, John Mathers, and he has a machinist that makes replacements that fit all modern rods. You have to send the reel as Hardy was never consistent on hole placement. However, I never had one made as John had a 4" Perfect with smaller reel foot that I swapped him for my 4.25" reel.
For any Hardy enthusisat out there John is a great resource. He always has tough to find reels (pin, fly, and mooching)and some very BC specific equipment. Also, lots of modern demo products at considerable savings.

Randy,
This thread is older than dirt....I bought the original 4.25 from you a year or so ago and have since traded it for a newer 4" with smaller foot.
For collectors or folks that just like good shyte....This guy is scratching out quite a living in selling tackle and gear. Some say he checks the obituaries throughout BC to get his leads.... Nonetheless, he comes up with some tough items...SD you can probably find a SeaRun through this guy...

I agree with Robestlund. I dropped a St. George and Bill Archuleta fixed it up quickly and inexpensively. I recommend him highly. RR |
