| I have a little river running behind my home called the Rabbit River. Where it runs behind me there is no fishin pressure but its pretty thick back there. I've cut some brush down but I still can't get my flyrod back there without catching a {shucks} load of trees. I tried a float but I seem to snag on everything in the river. How would you all do this? |

Option 1: Get yourself a smaller length flyrod and become an expert at roll casting or presenting directly downstream.
Option 2: I would break the bank-- go crazy and spend $ 5.00 on gas, and go to a different river. Really, there is no excuse to not fish the great rivers if you live anywhere north of new buffalo. If you need some areas spelled out? PM me.
I don't mean to come off as rude. Sometimes, one has to have a wake up call as to whats around you...........the highest quality and biggest potential quantity of steelhead in the lower 48.
Get in your car for God's sake and drive!!!!!
I just put over 1,000 miles on my car this weekend to get into fish. I bet that it would be a lot easier for you. |

Two great features I'd narrow down the runs/pools that hold fish and concentrate on those. Study each one hard to form a plan of attack. Sounds like stealth will be a primary.
Be careful naming spots, you might not be alone for long.
Edit: Just noticed this is in the 'Spey' forum, should have been posted in 'Ask the staff' or the 'Michigan' sections. You'll get alot more people looking in those. |

| The Rabbit River is not a river for a spey rod. Even a switch rod would be a bit much in my opinion... |
