Spent a Fri-Sun in the Naples/Ft.Myers area and managed to do a little fishin. Mostly I drank beer and ate at beach bars with my wife, since we were supposed to be on an anniversary trip.
Popped a bunch of snook under the docklights from the kayak with the 8wt. on a version of the "Norm's Crystal Schminnow". Very visual and kinda spooky.
Got lots of snapper, jacks, a nice trout, and the assortment of trash fish.
The trophy of the trip came while my wife and I were sitting on the dock eating chocolate chip cookies and drinking St. Pauli Girl(s) (breakfast). Big red just happened to wander by. Figures. Cant say it was on purpose but I'll take in anyway. Good fun.
Sorry the snook pictures suck. Dont ask about the black line in the red pic.

| Looks like you did pretty well for sneaking in some fishing time when you were supposed to be holding hands! |

MP - Sorry I didn't answer sooner but I haven't been on the site much lately. You're very close! Actually there are about a million and one dock backgrounds that look just like that down there. Rich folk all over. Not like us up here... in the booming Michigan economy.
My in-laws bought that place (2 miles north of Downtown Naples) about fifteen years ago and they are about to forced to go live in it. My mother-in-law took a buyout from Ford last year and my father-in-law is about to be forced to do the same, since his plant is closing in '08. Neither one has any non-manufacturing skills so they're having to sell there house and move into the condo down there to look for work.
With the in-laws in Florida my wife will not be far behind so... next Thanksgiving I'll probably be posting a tarpon report.
Good fishin' |

Actually yes. You are correct sir. Being married is turning me into a flabby man, and my wife making me eat cookies and drink beer is all to blame.
I used to crawl around through the mangroves and wade all over the flats at high tide. Now I'm a sorry P.O.S. sitting on the dock eating cookies! It's all good though |
