Anyone had any luck on steel down at the Huron? Was down there but didn't see much. Seems the water and weather are still to warm.

There's been a few steelhead in since August, just like each year past, but catchable numbers won't show until we get constant water levels from the dams upstream. A big rain will bring in fish this time of year but French Landing as well as the other upstream need to start pumping water down every day which usually starts sometime in early to mid Nov.

Saw the water Sunday, looked to be flowing upstream!!

I was there Sunday morning and the water was still low and dark and didn't see much happening yet.

Nov. 1st, Kent lake will start it's annual lowering down about 3 foot over a 10 to 15 day period and portage lowers about a foot a couple weeks after that.
Usually takes about 5 days to start seeing it downriver and we should have a steady flow for the month.
Any good rain during this time will really get her flowing!

Thanks Mike. I never knew how the flow Nazis operated, but always knew about when to expect the water - rain or not.

Opening day of firearms deer is always a great day to kick off Huron River steelhead. Few if any people and the water is usually up by then. No charcoal fish either!

I'll be out with my other brother Earl (Chris) from Cleveland the weekend of the 10th and I'll give a report. We're also going to be loading the loading the freezer with Detroit River walleye that weekend. I'll post some body count pics of that too!

Good luck to all.
