Well...I finally got to meet and fish with someone from this site. Actually, Al P. has now moved out West so that it was evident that I would run into him at some point.

Al finally got a chance to break away from his everyday duties to venture out for a day fishing the Vedder/Chilliwack River here in Beautiful British Columbia. Up until Sunday we had our fingers crossed that the expected heavy rains would not blow out the river but that rain storm did not materialize so Sunday was a go. Al drove down 2.5-3 hours to meet me in Chilliwack where I then took over as a guide. It was a nice day for sure sunny and at times very warm(sorry guys out East), tee shirt weather.

This river had few fishable days as it's been very wet this year and the river had constantly changed due to high water conditions so I was already worried that I wouldn't be able to find fish for Al to get into. When we got to the river, it was some what high but fishable and the water had a clayish green color to it but is was clearer up top where we started.

To make a long story short, I rolled one in the first run as well as Al hooking up with a Whitefish but that was the only action we had the whole day. We talked to a few guys that said they had hooked or landed one but it was definitely a slow day. I wish I could have gotten Al on to his first Westcoast steel but with only being out 3 times and going 1 for 3 trips plus a different looking river each time out, the odds were definitely against us.

I finally got to see a Clough CP in action and I must say that it's a beauty but not one that I would spent the crazy cash for. It was also kinda weird to see that practically every guy that we ran into was using a centerpin. Usually out here the baitcasters out number the centerpins but I see that it's becoming more and more popular.

Although we didn't get into any fish, it was great to get out and meet new friends. It just sucks that this river will be shutting down to flyfishing only in a week or so and so Al will have to wait a while yet to get his first Westcoast steel but I promised him some good salmon action before then so I will keep you guys posted.
