This past fall/winter/spring really opened my eyes to jig fishing without any sort of bait. Some memorable days were etched in stone with marabou, unscented soft plastics and tubes. I combed through while on lunch here a few threads with pictures of boxes that were incredible. I guess what im getting at is what worked good this year as far as jigs go for you? Naturals seemed to work the best for me, but i did have a few 1/8 oz. flouro jigs in the grand high water this winter that worked. I'll get some pictures up as soon as my camera gets it's flash fixed.

cya on the river,

mark

From one of my previous posts.....

Had a hard time tieing any two alike, so I just went crazy. These are just a few that I took up to Ak. I left about 50+ in all the bramble that lines the sides and bottom of the Situk!

I used jigs and other artificials alot more than bags this season with good results. I've been playing with a pretty sweet stonefly jig as well as bunny jigs and sparse marabou jigs. I added a bunch of rubber legs into my jigs this season and the fish seemed to like em'. I had some sweet strikes on these i got from a buddy who was a Spirit River sales rep.

Heres some of the bunny and rubber jigs I tie:

and here's a rubber legged jig I've been playing with:

I'll try and take some pics of the stonies and add them to the thread.

Mp,
I know what you mean... But this year I didnt do as well on jigs as I did the year before. I dont know why. Yea they had their moments but I did fool alot of fish on plastics... Like the minnow and pink worm. Any one tie a jig that looks like a minnow or a pink worm? Not just white or pink marribou (which works!)...

I watched Mark's float get sucked under do to plastics this year Laughing .

Been whacking the fish hard on the good ole chartreuse patterns, in the crystal clearm, low water from hell season the "dirty water jigs reign supreme.

Every time you think you know the Steelhead, they change their tune and act different.

They do love jigs, like a dead head loves acid Laughing Rolling Eyes .

Nice jigs Mark! White seemed to be my best main color mixed with pink or black or purple. The contrast it creates is the ticket for me. The last few years yellow and red was on fire but not so much this year. Keep in touch!
