| Well the fishing has been up and down throughout the week. First they were iced up, and then the ice was just floating in the creeks, but last night we did get that ice storm they were predicting. It doesn't appear to be as thick as they thought it might be, but it's not over yet either. The temps are supposed to be in the hihg 30s and maybe even get into the 40s until the middle of next week. Right now the creeks are high and fast and muddy but if we don't get a lot of precip they may be in decent shape by Sunday. The reports all say the creeks are just loaded with fish even all the way up into the upstream areas. The anglers staying here have had fair success thru the week. There was reportedly a 14-lber caught. Bait are varying according to the water level and flow. Right now the bait shops are saying to use larger egg sacs with red or orange netting. Ice fishing is out for now, what ice we had is in no way safe enough to go out on. Some have been going out on Misery Bay but the ice is less than 3- inches thick from what I'm hearing. There are lots of fish in the creeks, we'll see what the wheather does to see if you can keep the bait flyin and the fish jumpin. |
