UsaFish told me two more weeks. They were told by Ross Reps. We well see. Maybe it has something to do with Making them because they told me they want them 100%. Good things are worth the wait.

I just got off the phone with Brant at Ross Reels. I have been anxiously waiting to see the Flow. I own other Ross reels and have nothing but good things to say about them. But I too was a bit concerned about the hold up on their release. People have been speculating that the hold up may be that they are made overseas. The information he gave me and I found to be important is:
-They are made right there in Montrose, CO.
-They have the same lifetime warranty that all their other US made reels have.
-They decided to use ABEC 3 bearings.
-They should be shipped out later next week.

If they are as well made as my BG 4 & 5, I'll probably pick one up.

When i emailed Ross they told me they wanted them 100% _ So thats more likely the hold up.

My brother has three Ross fly reels. After falling with his 10'6" 6wt his ross canyon has never been the same, the reel didnt even hit anything, he broke his fall with his fists. Now the drag slips.

Other than that they have all performed well. Not a fan of the type two finish they use on most though (mostly on the older ones?), some are decent looking design wise, esp the new ones.

One thing that bothers me is the rate the Ross discontinues reel models. The San Miguel was only out for what a few years, nice looking reel. then Poof, gone.

Have fun with your reels when you get them, just dont fall. lol.

If the reel isn't right, send it back. Ross will take care of it. Simple as that. Customer service is top notch. Sounds like a subtle bash to me.

This discussion seems to have gone to hell!

I'm going to be deleting much of the conversation not directly related to the aesthetics or perceived performance (perceived, since I didn't notice a comment from anyone who's actually seen a Flow up close and personal, much less fished one). My apologies in advance if this seems heavy handed.

Please limit future discussion in this thread to the topics mentioned above. If you'd like to discuss the merits of made in the US vs abroad, please start a new topic. In fact, I may just start one myself after I'm done with some forum house cleaning.

Thanks in advance for your help and tight lines gang!

Best,

Brian

After reading through all the posts, it does indeed look like a few people have had the chance to play with the new Flow. How about some more in depth observations from these folks in the know?

Best,

Brian
