Silly question to ask but I need to know if rooster saddle feathers are the same as shlappen? I am palmering some steelhead jigs and have bought the saddle hackle feathers. Help on this matter would be appreciated. Schlappen has long, soft webby fibers and rooster saddles have thin/stiff barbs. If you bought a whole saddle, there are some feathers near the base of the patch that resemble the soft webby fibers of the schlappen. Hope this helps...
