Silly question to ask but I need to know if rooster saddle feathers are the same as shlappen? I am palmering some steelhead jigs and have bought the saddle hackle feathers. Help on this matter would be appreciated.

Rooster saddle feathers are not the same as Schlappen. Schlappen has long, soft webby fibers and rooster saddles have thin/stiff barbs. If you bought a whole saddle, there are some feathers near the base of the patch that resemble the soft webby fibers of the schlappen. Hope this helps...
