Meet Treven and Snowmonkey yesterday to get in one last fix before this cold snap locks things up.

Found a decent section of slush free water with some darkies hannging around. I took one on a plug for kicks and giggles, the rest came on fresh spawn. Some nice fish, but most came from one hole. After lunch, Trev and I headed to the "ice zone" downriver and had a tough time finding fishable water. We were able to clear some ice from a good looking hole and I found a beauty chrome buck for our efforts. Fish fought great, spent a ton of time under an ice shelf but finally gave into the 1562 bent in half. Great way to end the day, time to clean some gear and get things in order when the next thaw occurs.

Have a good one!
BK

You know what they say... 'tis better have fished and came up dark, than never to have fished at all. Beautiful buck.

Nice work and thanks for the . fix. I'm tired of hearing my Dad call me with his seatrout, shorts, and 80 degree Florida stories!

Darkies have saved the day many a time, no complaints here. It's amazing how hard those colored up fish will take a plug, it's been so long since "hardware" season that I almost forgot to set the hook! The plugs will be staying in the coat for awhile Wink

Definitely was a great fix before the lock up. Snowmonkey, it was great fishing with you and Kodiak. Buzz, it may have been cold landing that buck, but after that 10 min fight it put up in that 32.5 degree water I was excited as you were Smile

Buzz/Trev,

Great getting in a fix w/you guys before total lockdown! We'll all get together again during a thaw or (if we're not that lucky) this spring when lots of chrome Little Manistee fish are around. Very nice fish, Buzz...wish I could have fished the afternoon w/you guys.

You guys hit on the right day. Sunday was cold with a great little breeze that kept the line fat and the guides narrow. Fish where on early in the morning but slowed as the temps dropped. Had to bust out a landing strip and try to guide fish to it. Did have a crazy hen go airborn about 5 or 6 times, didn't expect that.

I can only imagine how ugly it got on Sunday, we had a tough time finding flowing water by saturday afternoon. See you guys when the ice breaks up (that could be awhile...). Time to break out the John Cooper highlight video and re-live the good old days Laughing
