I live in New York state and can't buy small lead split shots here (new stupid state law).
I'm wondering if anybody out there knows of web sites that sell these tiny split shots to New York residents and what kind and size shot do you recommend, Redwing,Sure Shot etc...

I'm looking for the refill bags, not the tubes.

I got Dinsmore shot from fishusa.com, it is made of tin and legal. Comes in the smaller sizes like the lead does, also has no "wings" to reopen it.

Most dealers on the web will not ship lead shot under 1/2 oz to NY addresses....

I expect NY to totally ban the use of lead shot by 2005...

I live in NE PA and fish the Salmon River quite a bit.

If you need the lead, PM me and I will buy what you need and ship to you...

Thanks for the response gman2153.
Have relatives in Bama that ordered the lead shot and had them delivered to me.
Talked to a guy on the CATT this past week-end and he has his shipped to N. Carolina, and then to him.
What a hastle. Really need to load up.
Good luck on the Salmon River.

I just went to the salmon river for the first time and my jaw dropped when I could not buy lead, luckily I had some shot. If I would have known I would have brought some out there for guys. It seemed one would have to use twice as much tin to equal lead. I also talked with a guide who said alot of locals go out and fill buckets with weight when the levels drop in the summer.

Anyway I have found redwings split very effective, especially using the tubes. I also like to go with split w/o the re-use wings...I find they get hung up more than plain split.

just my 2 cents.
