Great, something else I've got to buy!
Just got the scoop on a completely overhauled spey line-up. G Loomis will be rolling out 24 brand spankin' new rods at the upcoming Denver show! Yup, 24.
Rods are broken up into 3 series; traditional action, skagit (short bellies), and scandinavian (underhand). Rods range in length from 12' 6" to 17' with everything in between. Available in weights from 6/7 to 10/11. Understand that Loomis has really upgraded the finishing as well. At the low end of the scale, rods are starting at $400USD, with some of the top end GLX coming in at just a hair under a grand. Spoke to a few buddies who had the luck to cast these rods and all I heard were rave reviews. Should be finding there way into shops around November (just in time for x-mas and winter steel, what a coincidence!).
We should hopefully be posting some more info and the Loomis line recommendations shortly after the Denver show. I'll have a chance to cast them myself the first week of October and will definitly report back. In the mean time, maybe Neil (speyladdie) would be kind enough to tell us about how they cast?
Best,
