Spey fishing is a type of fly fishing. It was developed in Scotland (on the River Spey), and uses very long limber rods to deliver the fly using a modified roll type cast. It's primary advantages are the ease in changing the direction of the line (from straight downstream to quartering upstream, etc), the limited need for room for a backcast, the incredible casting distances you can achieve, and mending ability. I'd recommend taking a peek at our spey fishing pages for more information. If you've got any more questions, post em here.

Best,
Brian
