Muskegon River Access Sites Croton Dam to Newaygo This stretch of the Muskegon has several access sites from Croton Dam to just down from Newaygo. Ownership is a mix of USFS, DNR and the State of Michigan, make sure to check the Special Regs page for a full list of rules and regulations that apply to this stretch of river as well as the access sites. |
Some of these provide amenities such as restroom facilities, campgrounds, boat launches, and paved roads/parking; others consist of nothing but a dirt road and small parking area. Please keep in mind that some are seasonal use only and are not maintained once winter weather sets in; at times, access can be marginal at best. During the summer months all of the sites can be driven into with the family sedan, although it may be a bit bumpy, especially following a good rain. After the first good series of snows a 4 wheel drive is recommended. Stop by one of the local tackle shops for current conditions.
