Croton Dam to Newaygo

This stretch of the Muskegon has several access sites from Croton Dam to just down from Newaygo. Ownership is a mix of USFS, DNR and the State of Michigan, make sure to check the Special Regs page for a full list of rules and regulations that apply to this stretch of river as well as the access sites.
Some of these provide amenities such as restroom facilities, campgrounds, boat launches, and paved roads/parking; others consist of nothing but a dirt road and small parking area. Please keep in mind that some are seasonal use only and are not maintained once winter weather sets in; at times, access can be marginal at best. During the summer months all of the sites can be driven into with the family sedan, although it may be a bit bumpy, especially following a good rain. After the first good series of snows a 4 wheel drive is recommended. Stop by one of the local tackle shops for current conditions.
